The Summer Term:

We were very sad to say goodbye to our lovely 2nd class pupils.  Each child has made a unique contribution to our school and we are very proud of you as you go forward to your new schools!  Best of Luck!!

Fun day

2nd class had their tour to a Lets Go Camp in A. I. T. They participated in a huge range of action packed activities including zorbing, go- karting, orienteering, a disco dome and lots more. It was a very enjoyable day out. Here are some photos of the day.

Active Week

Room 30 had a great ‘Active School Week’. We had dance in the hall, circuits, races, running a mile, tennis, 10 @ 10 and even more!  We also had active homework and we’re trying to make sure to be active for 60 minutes each day! We know how important it is to be healthy and exercise is a vital part of this. We will continue to be active over the summer!  “Get up off your seat and move your feet”.  Here are some pictures of our week.

Holy Communion

Well Done to all the boys and girls in Room 30 who made their first holy communion last Sunday, the 26th of May. All of the children were amazing and looked beautiful!

Clonard House Fun

The boys and girls had an amazing experience in Clonard House. They engaged in many activities from long ago such as games from the past, washing clothes, rope making, feeding hens and much more! They really enjoyed dressing as Lord and Ladies and later in the day as the lord and lady’s helpers. It was a spectacular day in which the children had loads of fun as well as learning loads about life in the 1800’s!

Happy Easter from second class! Well done to all the boys and girls for all their hard work this term. I hope you all have a lovely break.   The boys and girls in Room 30 really enjoyed the Easter Egg hunt. We had great fun working through the clues around the school and finding the chocolate goodies!  Here are some photos of our fun activities we have done in the last week!

We have been busy learning about ‘Electricity’.  We learned about electrical appliances and if they were powered by battery or mains electricity.  We had fun investigating static electricity too. We used a balloon and different materials, e.g. cardboard, tea leaves, salt, sugar to see if they were attracted to static electricity.  We learned to keep safe when using electricity and around electric wires/ boxes.

World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day, the children dressed up as characters from some of their favourite books. Everyone made a huge effort, the costumes were fantastic and the children really enjoyed the day.  We had a  great time talking about our favourite fiction and non-fiction books, writing character profiles and book reviews and recommending our favourite books and authors to friends!

Landmarks of Ireland and the world

After learning all about famous landmarks in Ireland and around the world. The children choose their favourite and created it using recyclable materials. The children showed great creativity when making their pieces and their final pieces were amazing! Take a look to see their brilliant work!

Engineering Workshop

Room 30 is definitely filled with many engineers, We really enjoyed our workshop. We created roller coasters using a variety of materials and created kinetic energy!

Road Safety Week

In Room 30, we have been focusing on Road Safety this week. We took a walk outside and found some of the dangers we need to be careful of when crossing the road, e.g. parked cars, bends in road, etc. In Second Class we follow the safe cross code when crossing the road! We look forward to learning more about Road Safety this week!
