STEM – Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
VEX IQ ROBOTICS
We were delighted to be involved in a STEM programme called “VEX Robotics” in the Sacred Heart School on the 9Th April.
VEX seeks to increase children’s interest and sense of fun in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). This project encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The children got the opportunity to build, design and program two robots to compete in different challenges. These robots were driven manually and automatically using coding.
We were very excited to be part of it. VEX Robotics is being delivered by Cork Institute of Technology and Offaly Co. Council.
MICRO BIT WORKSHOP.
Thank you so much to Dean from Offaly County Council in conjunction with Tullamore Library for facilitating a wonderful coding experience for St. Joseph’s 2nd class students. The children designed their own electric guitar and using micro bit technology and coding techniques, they selected notes to play on their guitars. The children were so invested in the whole experience and their eyes lit up as they watched “magic” happen!
