Robert Dunbar Library

Pop Up Library

What a surprise greeted us on Thursday, 3rd June – a spectacular pop up library magically appeared in hall!  Each person visiting the library had to enter through a beautiful, handmade giant book entitled The Day the Books Came to School!  Inside the library there were so many books!  It was a fantastic sight.  Later in the day, Daiden, from Children’s Book, Ireland, came to see the library and meet the library committee.  Such a fantastic event in the life of St. Joseph’s.  Well done to our talented staff and pupils for putting it all together.

We were very excited to be chosen recently, by Children’s Books Ireland, as one of the lucky recipients of a Robert Dunbar memorial library.  Here are a few pictures of our library committee members opening the big delivery of our new books. As you can imagine, there was great excitement as they saw the range of fabulous books we’ve been given.  We are also taking part in the Every Child A Reader project and have been given our very own Champion of Reading-author Juliette Saumande, who will deliver workshops with various class groups.  Another exciting part of the Every Child A Reader project is that we are taking on reading challenges…we’ve no doubt we’ll complete them all!  We are looking forward to a day of celebration soon when we launch our new library of books. Thanks Children’s Books Ireland for working with us and helping to spread the magic and enjoyment of reading in St.Joseph’s NS!
