About Language Class
The Language Class offers an essential program since the early 1990s, dedicated to supporting children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). This specialized class serves up to seven children from across Offaly, providing intensive speech and language support over a period of up to two years.
The program is designed not only to offer individualized support but also to integrate children into mainstream activities, allowing them to join their peers for lunch, participate in music generation classes, and prepare for important events like First Holy Communion.
This unique class is a collaboration between the Department of Education and the HSE, with a committed team and a Speech and Language Therapist. Through this structure, children receive focused support for DLD, fostering both their social connections and communication skills within the larger school community.
