Friendship Week

Friendship Week October 1st -5th 2018

Friendship week was celebrated in St. Joseph’s from October 1st to 5th. There were many planned activities integrated into the curriculum in recognition of this. Among some of the events that took place was a whole school art project where all pupils were invited to draw their face and we displayed almost 400 faces in two large hears to represent our kind hears towards each other.

Each class produced some lovely art in their own class with a friendship theme such as a Friendship Tree, Friendship Flower and a compliments face. All classes had a PE and an SPHE lesson with this theme. Everybody had a Circle Time activity. All completed a Literacy activity such as an Acrostic poem and a Recipe for Friendship.

One of the highlights of the week was the “Good Friend Tokens”. If a child was caught doing a friendly deed by teacher or another child a token was filled in. All tokens were placed in a box for a draw at the end of the week for some great prizes. The box was full to capacity! All were rewarded with some sweets.

The week ended with a whole school assembly where all joined in in song and movement to the tunes of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me “and “Circle of Friends”.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the fun activities and friendships they made and developed during the week.
