We celebrated Maths Week 2024 from October 14th to 18th, and it was a fantastic experience for everyone! Each morning began with fun maths riddles announced over the intercom, sparking curiosity and excitement across the school. Some quick-thinking students even won prizes for solving them!
Throughout the week, every class followed a unique plan packed with engaging activities. One highlight was when 6th class boys from Scoil Eoin Phól visited 2nd class to help create Halloween characters out of recycled materials, blending maths with art and engineering as part of a STEM project. Other classes teamed up to play maths games, and many students enjoyed buddying up for different STEM challenges.
We also held a poster competition with the theme Maths All Around Us, inviting students to illustrate how maths is part of everyday life. One winner was chosen from each class, and the winning posters showcased fantastic creativity and insight.
Junior Infants loved wearing their ‘Maths Eyes’ to explore and discover maths all around them in their environment. The outdoor trails were also a big hit, making learning outside both fun and engaging!
Ms. Larkin and Ms. Mulligan would like to say a big congratulations to all the students for their enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork in making Maths Week so memorable. Well done to everyone who took part in this week of learning and fun!
