Wellbeing Week

This year marked the second consecutive year that St Joseph’s has proudly participated in the Amber Flag Initiative, a programme dedicated to emphasising the importance of mental health and overall wellbeing within our school community. The Amber Flag Initiative serves as a reminder of the significance of nurturing both our physical and mental health, encouraging a positive and supportive environment for all.

Wellness Week Activities

To celebrate this initiative, we organised a vibrant and engaging Wellness Week, packed with activities designed to promote relaxation, positivity, and self-awareness among our students. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

  • Mindfulness Colouring: Throughout the week, students took time to engage in mindfulness colouring sessions. This simple yet effective activity allowed them to focus on the present moment, helping to reduce stress and promote a sense of calm.
  • Affirmations: Positive affirmations were integrated into the daily routine, encouraging students to foster self-belief and a positive mindset. These affirmations serve as powerful tools to boost self-esteem and reinforce a positive outlook on life.
  • Dance-a-thon: One of the most anticipated events of the week was the dance-a-thon! Students and staff alike participated with enthusiasm, enjoying a fun-filled session that combined physical activity with music and laughter. The dance-a-thon not only promoted physical fitness but also lifted everyone’s spirits, reinforcing the joy that comes from moving together as a community.
  • Mindfulness and Yoga Workshop: A special highlight of the week was the mindfulness and yoga workshop, expertly led by Tina Kennedy. This workshop introduced students to the practices of mindfulness and yoga, teaching them valuable techniques to manage stress, improve concentration, and enhance their overall sense of well-being. Tina’s guidance provided the students with tools they can use both in and out of the classroom to maintain a balanced and healthy mindset.

Looking Ahead

As Wellness Week came to a close, the sense of accomplishment and positive energy was palpable throughout the school. We are incredibly proud of all the students and staff who participated in and supported these activities. Their enthusiasm and commitment to fostering a supportive and healthy environment are what make St Joseph’s a truly special place to learn and grow.

In recognition of our ongoing commitment to mental health and wellbeing, we are excited to announce that we will soon be raising our new Amber Flag. This flag represents our collective efforts to create a school environment where mental health is prioritised, and where every student feels valued and supported.

Well Done to All

A big congratulations and heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making Wellbeing Week 2024 a success. We look forward to continuing our journey towards a healthier, happier school community in the years to come. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our students, fostering a culture of care, support, and positivity.

Stay tuned for more initiatives and activities as we continue to prioritise the well-being of every member of our St Joseph’s family.
